SPRINGFIELD -- The Missouri State tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback to Bradley Sunday morning at Cooper Tennis Complex in the team's final match before the Missouri Valley Conference Team Championship April 28-30.
The Bears (6-16, 1-6 MVC) and Braves (11-13, 2-5) split at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles before Bradley won by a service break in the second flight for an early 1-0 lead.Â
"This was a frustrating match, but I give a lot of credit to Bradley for the way they competed," said head coach
Mallory Weber. "There were definitely some positives, and it's good we have a quick turnaround and will fight hard to finish strong at conference."
In singles action, Missouri State's
Anelisse Torrico Moreno earned a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 3 match, and senior
Ekaterina Donetskova also won in straight sets in her final home match. Bradley needed two sets to win at Nos. 1, 2 and 6, and rallied for a three-set victory in the fourth flight.
The Bears are tied with UNI for seventh in the league standings and own the tie-break over the Panthers after a 5-2 win earlier this month. The full tournament bracket will be released early in the week.
