MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Missouri State pushed Kansas State at several lineup spots Friday in a 7-0 loss to the Wildcats at Body First Indoor Tennis Center.
"Definitely a more competitive outing, especially in singles," said head coach
Mallory Weber after her team's second dual of the spring season. "We had a number of spots compete much better this match. I look forward to getting out at practice this week, focusing a lot on doubles, and preparing for out next matches."
The Bears (2-2) lost several singles sets by just one break, with freshman
Alye Darter falling 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 3 match,
Ekaterina Donetskova falling 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, and
Phoebe Boeschen dropping the No. 6 match, 6-4, 6-3. Darter and Boeschen led their No. 1 doubles match when KSU (3-2) clinched the point, the second consecutive outing that the Bears have led a doubles match that was cut short.
MSU continues its season-opening road stretch Feb. 10 and 11 with a trip to Indianapolis to face Butler and IUPUI, and opens a four-match home stand Feb. 17 versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
