November 09, 2017

SPRINGFIELD – Senior Liam Priestley and sophomore Kyle Hiebert represent the Missouri State men's soccer squad on the Capital One Academic All-District VI team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday (Nov. 9).

Starting every game in goal this season and recording 54 saves, Priestley earns this honor for the second-consecutive year. The Essex, England native marked his 10th shutout of the season and 24th of his career against Drake on Saturday and now ranks second in Missouri State history in career shutouts and third on the program's single-season shutout list. Priestley ranks as one of the top goalies in the nation this season, siting tied for third in shutouts (10), third in save percentage (0.871), sixth in goals against average (0.51) and also owns the second lowest career GAA in MSU history (0.85). Off the field, Priestley holds a 3.52 cumulative GPA in finance.

Hiebert has made starts in all 15 regular-season matches for the Bears. The La Salle, Manitoba, Canada native netted in his first career goal against Valparaiso last month. He has been a consistent force for the Bears on the defensive side of the pitch, helping the squad to one if its best defensive seasons in history. The Bears' defense has given up only eight goals through 15 games and holds the fourth lowest goals against average in the nation (.510). The sophomore has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA in accounting.

Both Priestley and Hiebert have earned Missouri Valley conference scholar-athlete of the week honors this season for their work on and off the field.
To qualify for the Capital One Academic All-District team, a nominee must hold a cumulative 3.30 grade point average, must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
