added to her record number of Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week awards Monday afternoon as she was honored for the fifth time this season and 14th time in her career.
The senior outside hitter averaged 5.29 kills, 5.57 digs and 5.71 points per set in helping the volleyball Bears to home wins against Valparaiso and Southern Illinois.
Monday against Valparaiso, the Wildwood, Mo., native tallied 21 kills and 22 digs for her fourth 20/20 match of the year, the most ever in a season at Missouri State. She added two aces and two blocks against the Crusaders. Saturday, Johnson piled up 16 kills and 17 digs in three sets, hitting .271 as the Bears swept Southern Illinois.
The Bears (22-5, 14-0) close out their home schedule this weekend with a chance to claim a second consecutive MVC regular season title. MSU hosts second-place UNI at 12 p.m. Saturday and Drake at 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free to both matches for anyone wearing BearWear, and ticket vouchers are also available at area Price Cutter locations.
