The Missouri State volleyball team earned its second consecutive Missouri Valley Conference title in 2017, going a perfect 18-0 in league play on the way to a 26-5 overall record.
    The 25th-ranked Bears take the top seed to the MVC Volleyball Championship this week in Normal, Ill., Nov. 23-25. MSU begins play Friday at 5 p.m. against the winner of Thursday's contest between fourth-seeded Drake and No. 5 Indiana State. The championship match takes place Saturday at 4 p.m. The other half of the bracket includes No. 2 UNI, No. 3 Illinois State and No. 6 Valparaiso.
    
Championship History
Missouri State has appeared in eight of the last 16 MVC Tournament finals. MSU is 29-28 in the tournament with titles coming in 1990, 1993, 2005 and 2008. The Bears lost the championship match to Wichita State each of the last two seasons.

Last Week
The Bears completed an unbeaten MVC regular season with wins at Valparaiso and Loyola. Friday at VU, Lily Johnson slammed 26 kills, the second-most in a three-set match in the NCAA this season, and hit .442 in a sweep of the Crusaders. Saturday, Lynsey Wright hit .528 with 21 kills, and Emily Butters broke the school record for digs in a season in a 3-1 win at Loyola.
