Beshore Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

November 17, 2017

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. –  Missouri State junior safety Jared Beshore has been selected to the CoSIDA District VI Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive season, the organization announced Thursday.

Beshore, who earned first-team CoSIDA all-district honors last fall as well, is the Bears' fifth-leading tackler with 50 stops heading into MSU's season finale at Youngstown State. A 2015 MVFC All-Newcomer Team honoree and a 2016 MVFC All-Academic Team pick, Beshore also has 2.5 tackles for losses and a team-high three interceptions this season.

The junior from Lamar, Mo., posted matching season-high eight-tackle performances in MVFC games against Illinois State (Sept. 23) and South Dakota State (Oct. 21), before coming through with six solo stops in the Bears' road win at Southern Illinois on Nov. 4. A physical education major, Beshore maintains a 3.84 grade-point average.

With his All-District selection, Beshore now advances to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted upon by a special national panel with winners announced in December. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. District VI includes all Division I schools from the states of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The Bears (3-7, 2-5 MVFC) will conclude the 2017 season Saturday (Nov. 18) with an 11 a.m. (CST) Valley road contest against Youngstown State at Stambaugh Stadium.
