NORMAL, Ill. – Missouri State's Phoebe Boeschen captured a big three-set victory on Sunday to advance to the flight 3 singles finals of the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Individual Championship. Boeschen defeated Stony Brook's Maria Ribeiro, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 to move on to the title match.

The junior will face Drake's Joely Lomas for the flight 3 singles title on Monday, October 9 at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts at 9 a.m.

MSU junior Fati Khamissi picked up two flight 6 singles back draw matches to win fifth place. Khamissi defeated Valparaiso's Randi Wind, 6-1, 7-5, before collecting a 6-0, 6-0 win over UNI's Savanna Hunt.

"Phoebe did a great job fighting back to win in three sets to advance into the finals," head women's tennis coach Mallory Weber said. "It was also great to see Fati bounce back to win two matches and win the back draw.

"We have a great opportunity to capture third place in three of the flights tomorrow and have Phoebe compete for a chance to be an individual champion."

Despite dropping their second day matches, senior Abbey Belote, sophomore Alye Darter, and freshman Ellie Burger will be in contention for third place finishes in their respective singles flights.

In flight 1 doubles action, Darter and Burger defeated Gisela Kemper and Reghan Lynch of UNI, 8-7 (7-4) to advance to the fifth-place match on the final day of the tournament.
