The Missouri State volleyball team (13-5, 5-0 Missouri Valley Conference) is off to a 5-0 conference start for the first time since 2009, and will play five of its next seven matches on the road, beginning with a 7 p.m. Saturday contest at Southern Illinois (4-12, 3-2). MSU has won 21 consecutive regular-season MVC matches since the Salukis earned a 3-2 win in Springfield on Sept. 26 of last season, and has also been victorious in its last 14 MVC road contests.
Southern Illinois is 4-12 overall and 3-2 in MVC play with league wins against Bradley, Valparaiso and Evansville. Four Salukis average between 2.00 and 2.39 kills per set, and SIU hits .193 as a team compared to .239 for the opposition with averages of 11.98 kills, 1.00 aces, 16.03 digs and 1.80 blocks per set.
Missouri State leads SIU 53-19 in the all-time series, winning 22 of the last 27 meetings.
