The Missouri State women's golf team battled winds and the threat of weather to wrap up a 13th place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Missouri. The three day tournament was condensed to two in anticipation of severe weather and storms on Wednesday, with golfers playing 36 holes today. Host Missouri finished first with three-under par 861. ETSU (867), Middle Tennessee (877), Kennesaw State (878), and North Texas (883) rounded out the top five in the fourteen team field.
Pacing the Bears' team,
Verena Gimmy finished 40th after posting rounds of 68-76-83--227. Junior
Ashley Childers found her groove throughout the day, improving each round to end round three at par for a total of 81-75-72--228. Childers came up strong with four birdies in round three, two on each half of the course. Fellow junior,
Rachel Johnson followed close behind firing 77-77-76-230.
Sophia Sadaro wrapped up the Bears scoring by shooting 81-79-80--240.
The Bears are back in action October 16-17 for the MVC Preview in Newton, Kansas.
