The Missouri State volleyball team (18-5, 10-0 Missouri Valley Conference) will play the league's three Indiana schools this week, taking the nation's longest road winning streak to Evansville (9-13, 3-7) at 7 p.m. Friday and Indiana State (7-15, 5-5) at 6 p.m. Saturday before returning home for a 7 p.m. Monday match against MVC newcomer Valparaiso (12-11, 4-6).
The Opponents
Evansville 9-13 on the year and 3-7 in MVC matches, with the three league victories coming the last four outings. The Purple Aces, who opened the season with five consecutive wins, hit .150 as a team and limit opponents to .192 while averaging 11.02 kills, 1.29 aces, 15.76 digs and 1.85 blocks per set.
   Indiana State is 7-15 and 5-5 in MVC play. Laura Gross leads the Sycamores with 3.22 kills and 3.61 digs per set, and ISU hits .199 as a team compared to .243 for the opposition with averages of 11.81 kills, 1.01 aces, 15.80 digs and 1.82 blocks per set.
   Valparaiso is 12-11 and 4-6 in conference play. The Crusaders lead the nation by a wide margin with 20.39 digs per set, and hit .182 as a team compared to .173 for opponents with averages of 12.95 kills, 1.35 aces and 2.33 blocks per set.
Series Histories
The Bears lead Evansville by a 45-3 margin, losing just twice since 1999.
   MSU leads the all-time series with Indiana State by a 62-1 margin, with the Bears' lone loss occurring in five sets in 1994. Since then, the Bears have reeled off 48 straight wins against the Sycamores.
   The Bears are 2-0 all-time against Valparaiso, earning home sweeps in 1999 and 2006.
First Meetings This Season
Missouri State swept Indiana State at home on Sept. 29 and did the same to Evansville the next night, holding both opponents below 20 points in all six sets. The Bears limited Evansville to a negative hitting efficiency while
Lily Johnson hit .407 with 12 kills and 13 digs. Against Indiana State, Johnson recorded her 2,000th career kill and the Bears hit .299 as a team.
Last Week
Missouri State defeated Bradley and Illinois State at home in a pair of hard-fought matches. Friday, the Bears won 19-17 in the fifth set behind
Lily Johnson's 22 kills and 21 digs. Saturday, MSU took down the Redbirds 3-1 as
Emily Butters had 35 digs and Johnson added 27 to help the Bears hold ISU to a .137 hitting percentage.
