Missouri State (11-6, 2-2 MVC) continues its Missouri Valley Conference home stand on Wednesday night against Evansville (10-7, 1-3) at 7 p.m. Bleacher seats are available for just $5.

Series History
The rivalry between the Bears and Aces dates back to 1959 when the clubs met for the NCAA Division II title at Roberts Stadium in Evansville. The Bears lead the all-time series, 33-32, including a 20-10 mark in Springfield (5-3 at JQH Arena).

Last season, the Aces swept three games against MSU. In Springfield, UE used a 20-0 run midway through the second half to squash MSU's upset hopes in a 76-59 setback. (1/2/16). Chris Kendrix scored 16 for the home side, while Dequon Miller added 14, as the Bears who forced 19 turnovers and snagged 10 steals. In the rematch in Evansville (2/6/16), MSU scored 32 points in the paint but couldn't keep pace with UE's 31 free throw attempts in an 83-64 loss at Ford Center. Kendrix scored 21 points and snagged 7 rebounds. In the quarterfinals at Arch Madness, D.J. Balentine led UE with 21 points to lead the Aces to a 66-56 win over MSU. The Bears got 26 points from senior Camyn Boone and 11 from Miller, while out-rebounding Evansville by a 39-38 margin.

Scouting the Aces
Tenth-year head coach Marty Simmons returns seven lettermen and two starters froma 25-9 club that went 12-6 (second) in the MVC last season, but did not advance to postseason play. Senior Jaylon Brown (G, 6-0) leads the Aces at 21.1 points per game, while dishing out 2.8 assists and converting 84 percent of his abundant 131 foul shots. Sophomore Ryan Taylor (G, 6-6) is averaging 15.4 points with 30 3-pointers and 10 blocks.

  • Alize Johnson (Jr., Williamsport, Pa.) leads the MVC with 9.8 rebounds per game. He has recorded 10 or more rebounds in five straight ball games and 11 times overall this season. He also has 9 double-doubles this season.
  • In MVC games, Dequon Miller (Sr., Charleston, W.Va.) leads all Valley players with 38.5 minutes per game. He also ranks fourth in conference play with 4.5 assists per contest.
  • Miller's next appearance will be his 50th game as a Bear. He has 594 points in 49 career games at MSU (12.1 ppg).
  • Jarred Dixon (So., Kansas City, Mo.) has made 60 percent of his shots in conference play (18-for-30), which ranks third among all MVC players. He is also averaging 10.2 points per game at home this season.
  • Obediah Church (So., Springfield, Ill.) has blocked a shot in every game this season -- 24 straight games overall.
  • Head coach Paul Lusk announced Saturday (Jan. 7) that junior guard Ronnie Rousseau III (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio) will miss additional time away from the team due to personal reasons.
  • Jarrid Rhodes (Jr., Palmetto, Fla.) is averaging 11.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game over the last two games.
  • MSU's loss to SIU on Saturday marked the first time this season the Bears have lost a game in which they shot a higher percent from the field than their opponent (9-1). The Bears made 49.1 percent of their shots against the Salukis -- their best shooting effort in 10 games.
  • The Bears have two top national performers with Johnson ranking 9th in double-doubles (9), 17th in total rebounds (166) and 31st in rebounds per game (9.8). Church is 16th in blocked shots per game (2.73) and 18th in blocks (41).
