SPRINGFIELD -- The Missouri State tennis team will make its 2016-17 home debut this week when it hosts Tennessee State for a pair of duals at Cooper Tennis Complex. The Bears and Tigers will open with a 1 p.m. match on Friday, followed by a 10 a.m. contest on Saturday.

Missouri State is 6-1 in its last seven matches at Cooper dating to a March 4, 2016 victory against Omaha, and has never met TSU on the tennis court.

The Bears began their fall season last week at the UCA Fall Invitational, sending three players to the semifinal round in their respective flights. Freshman Alye Darter scored a runner-up finish in Flight 3, while senior Ekaterina Donetskova posted a 2-1 record as well. MSU also returns three players, junior Anelisse Torrico Moreno and sophomores Phoebe Boeschen and Fati Khamissi, who accumulated double-digit singles victories during the 2015-16 campaign.

Tennessee State opened its season by winning the title at the HBCU Invitational in Atlanta. The Tigers went 9-11 in duals last season.
