CONWAY, Ark. -- Missouri State saw three of its six entrants advance to at least the semifinal round Saturday on the final day of the UCA Fall Invitational.

"This was a great tournament in that we got to play a lot of singles matches," noted head coach Mallory Weber after her team's first competition of the year. "This tournament should give us some confidence moving on to next weekend."

Freshman Alye Darter played for the title in Flight 3, topping Arkansas State's Tori Roberts in straights sets in the semis before falling to Marli Van Heerden of the host Central Arkansas Sugar Bears by scores of 7-5, 6-2 in the championship.

MSU's Alexia Meyer and Abbey Belote each suffered close losses in the third-place matches of flights 4 and 6, respectively. Meyer and Arkansas State's Shannon O'Brien split the first two sets before O'Brien won 10-6 in the third-set tie-break format. Belote, meanwhile, won her first set from SEMO's Annisa Warasanti and narrowly missed a sweep, dropping the second set in a tie-break before a 10-4 loss in the third.

Senior Ekaterina Donetskova picked up two wins as well, cruising through a pair of Murray State players in the Flight 5 consolation bracket.

The Bears host a pair of dual matches against Tennessee State next weekend, playing at 1 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Tennis Complex.
