Missouri State (7-3) continues its challenging non-conference schedule this week with four matches away from home, including three against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament last season.
The Bears visit Arkansas State (6-4) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on Milwaukee (6-3), Iowa State (6-2) and Marquette (7-2) at the Marquette Invitational.
MSU continued its ascent in the national polls this week, collecting 83 votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll for the No. 27 spot, and moving up one notch in PrepVolleyball's poll for 28th.
Missouri State is on a five-match winning streak that includes a victory over 12th-ranked Ohio State, MSU's second top-15 win of the year, and became the third NCAA Division I program with 1,200 all-time victories after Thursday's win against McNeese.

The Opponents
Arkansas State is 6-4 thus far in 2016, a year after entering the NCAA Tournament with just one loss on its resume. The Red Wolves are picked to finish first in the Sun Belt West Division this season, and boast the league's preseason offensive player of the year (Carlisa May), defensive player of the year (Markie Schaedig) and setter of the year (Mallory Warrington).
Milwaukee is 6-3 on the year, and is picked to finish fifth in the Horizon League. The Panthers hit .197 as a team compared to .185 for the opposition, and average 11.89 kills, 1.20 aces, 12.77 digs and 2.20 blocks per set.
Iowa State is 6-2 on the season entering its Tuesday match at UNI, with its losses coming against No. 18 Creighton and top-ranked Nebraska. The Cyclones average 13.96 kills per set and hit .251 as a team, hold opponents to .184 hitting, and average 15.36 digs, 1.96 blocks and 1.48 aces per set. ISU received 22 votes in the AVCA poll this week for the No. 30 spot.
Marquette is 7-2 with a schedule that includes a win at No. 7 USC and loss at Wichita State, and earned five votes in the latest AVCA poll. Taylor Louis leads the Golden Eagles with 3.97 kills per set, and Marquette averages 12.42 kills, 16.64 digs, 2.20 blocks and 1.27 aces per set while hitting .229 and limiting opponents to a .178 efficiency.

The Series
Missouri State is 3-2 against Arkansas State after the Red Wolves grabbed a 3-2 win in Springfield last season.
The Bears are playing Milwaukee for the third consecutive season, winning the two previous meetings in three sets apiece.
MSU is 11-4 all-time against Iowa State. The Bears defeated the Cyclones at home in 2005, the only meeting in the series since 1994.
Marquette earned a 3-1 win in Springfield last year in the only match-up between the schools in volleyball.
