EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Continuous and, at times, heavy rainfall in the Evansville area overnight and throughout this morning has forced the cancellation of the series finale between Missouri State and Evansville. The game will not be made up.
On Friday, the Bears (19-27, 8-12) swept a doubleheader from the Purple Aces (22-23, 10-12). Sophomore Kaitlin Beason threw a five-hit shutout in game one, a 1-0 Bears' victory. Junior Erin Struemph tossed a complete game five-hitter at MSU took game two, 4-2.
With the wins, MSU moved into eighth place in the Valley standings with four games remaining. Missouri State will travel to Wichita for the series finale against the Shockers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday for the final road game of the regular season. The Bears host Indiana State next weekend in a pivotal three-game series that will likely determined the final qualifier for the MVC Softball Championship.
