WICHITA, Kan. - Missouri State senior Ema Turudija was selected to the Missouri Valley Women's Tennis All-Conference Team by the league's head coaches, which was announced at the pre-Team Tennis Championship awards banquet on Thursday, April 28. She was the second student-athlete on the team to be recognized by the MVC this week.
Turudija was given all-MVC honors for her success on the court, via the All-Select Team. The all-conference team is comprised of one individual from each of the six singles flight classes, as well as three doubles teams from each of the doubles flight classes. In addition, six other individuals are chosen regardless of flight distinction and are named to an All-Select Team.
Turudija led MSU from the top spot in the lineup, appearing in all 24 of the Bears' duals at the No. 1 slot. Turudija finished the season in a tie for first on the team with 14 overall victories, while she led the squad in spring play with a 13-10 mark. Turudija went 8-2 in the team's last 10 matches of the regular season, while she also finished with a 5-2 record against conference opponents. The MSU senior was named MVC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on two occasions in dual action. She also accumulated a team-high 12 victories in doubles play throughout the season.
The Belgrade, Serbia, native is the first MSU women's tennis player to be named an all-conference honoree since the program returned in the fall of 2014. She is the 13th Bear to be an all-MVC singles recipient.
Turudija joins fellow MSU senior Miranda Poile with honors from the conference following the regular season. Poile was previously recognized as an MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team selection on Tuesday.
Missouri State opens the MVC Team Tennis Championship at 2 p.m. Friday against Drake at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex on the campus of Wichita State.
