After a disappointing start on Sunday, the Missouri State women's golf team rebounded Monday (Apr. 18) and moved up three spots to seventh place at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at Harborside International Golf Center here.
The Bears improved 23 shots to 297 after their opening 320 and stand in seventh place entering Tuesday's final round with a 617 total, just three shy of sixth place and four from fifth-place Loyola and its 613.
Wichita State, seeking its third consecutive title, leads entering the final 18 holes with a 586 total. Indiana State is second with 593, Bradley third at 597 and Southern Illinois fourth with 608.
Sophomore Stine Pettersen again paced MSU on Monday, firing a one-over-par 73, which placed her in a tie for 10th after an opening 77, giving her a 150 total. Junior Caroline Boone is next in 26th place with 80-74--154, with sophomore Verena Gimmy tied for 29th with 82-74--156. Senior Megan Furnish has posted 81-77--158 and is tied for 35th, while freshman Ashley Childers is at 85-76--161, tied for 41st.
Tuesday's final round gets underway at 8:30 a.m. at Harborside's Port Course.
