PEORIA, Ill. - Missouri State earned wins in the top three singles flights but was narrowly beat by Bradley, 4-3, in Missouri Valley Conference women's tennis Sunday, April 17, at the David Markin Tennis Courts.

Bradley (11-11, 2-3 MVC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead by earning wins in two of the three doubles matchups. Ashley Thai and Alexa Brandt topped MSU's Ema Turudija and Miranda Poile 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while No. 3 doubles went Bradley's way with a 6-2 win behind the duo of Irinka Toidze and Malini Wijesinghe.

The Bears (10-12, 2-3 MVC) closed out doubles with the tandem of Phoebe Boeschen and Anelisse Torrico Moreno earning a 7-5 victory over the Braves' Ariel Decther and Aimee Manfredo.

MSU tied the dual at 1-1 with Torrico Moreno opening singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court No. 3 over Brandt.

However, Bradley won the next two matchups and wouldn't relinquish the lead. Manfredo and Toidze defeated MSU's Faty Khamissi and Ekaterina Donetskova at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively, in straight sets to give Bradley a 3-1 lead.

Turudija cut the MSU deficit to one by beating Dechter 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Boeschen battled back at No. 5 singles against Wijesinghe to keep the Bears in contention. Wijesinghe won the first set 6-2, but Boeschen took the second 6-4 to force a third. Bradley sealed the dual victory with Wijesinghe closing out the third set by a 6-3 score.

MSU won its third singles match to finish the day at No. 2 singles. Poile topped Bradley's Thai in two consecutive tiebreakers, winning 7-6 (2), 7-6 (7).

"This was a disappointing weekend for us," Missouri State head coach Mallory Weber said. "We played two tough teams, but had too many missed opportunities. We will work hard this week in practice to bounce back for our final weekend of matches. We can still have a fantastic finish to this regular season."

Missouri State finishes its regular season with two home duals. The Bears host Evansville at Cooper Tennis Complex at 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, then close out the weekend with Senior Day against Southern Illinois at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 24.
