ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State senior Ema Turudija was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 12. It is her second time this spring receiving the award, previously being recognized by the conference on March 15.
Turudija went undefeated in singles play during the Bears' 2-0 weekend. She topped Drake's Mariel Ante 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday and Northern Iowa's Jieke Stroobant 6-1, 6-3 Sunday to help lift MSU to dual 4-3 wins against the MVC foes.
Turudija also won one of two doubles matches she competed in. Her 6-4 win with teammate Miranda Poile at No. 1 doubles against Drake helped the Bears secure the doubles point, which was needed with the two squads splitting in singles action.
The Belgrade, Serbia, native is now 10-9 this spring, joining freshman Faty Khamissi as the lone Bears with winning records in dual play. The Bears return to action in Illinois this weekend with an eight-match winning streak. Missouri State is set to face Illinois State at 1 p.m. Saturday and Bradley at 10 a.m. Sunday.
