PEORIA, Ill. -- Missouri State picked up its 20th victory of the season and extended its winning streak to 11 matches Saturday with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-15 triumph at Bradley.
The Bears (20-7, 11-2 Missouri Valley Conference) reached the 20-win plateau for the 17th time in the last 18 seasons, and maintained their one-game lead in the league standings while matching the 2007 club for MSU's longest winning streak since the 2003 team won 18 consecutive matches. Bradley fell to 7-19 and 2-13 in MVC play.
Sophomore 
Cambree Villarreal slammed a career-high 17 kills on .441 hitting, breaking her previous mark by the end of the second set, 
Lily Johnson added 19 kills to end the evening ranked second in MSU history with 1,589 in her career, and 
Emily Butters became the 24th Bear overall and first sophomore to reach 1,000 career digs with 21 in the match.
The Bears did not trail in either of the first two sets, jumping ahead 4-0 in the first and getting five kills from Johnson in a 7-1 run after the Braves tied the score at 5-5. Johnson finished the first set with nine kills and MSU hit .400 as a team.
Villarreal had four kills during MSU's 9-1 start to the second period, and tallied 10 in the set, including the Bears' final two after the Braves closed to 21-18. Missouri State piled up 21 kills in the second frame.
Bradley held one-point leads three times early in the third set, but the Bears asserted themselves to pull away from a 7-7 tie in the form of an 12-2 run to lead 19-9. MSU led by as many as 12 points at 23-11 before a late BU run shrunk the final margin.
Freshman 
Daniele Messa dished out 51 assists, just three shy of her career high, and the Bears hit .323 as a team compared to .124 for the Braves while holding significant leads in kills (54-31), digs (63-53) and blocks (5-2).
The Bears visit Loyola (12-15, 7-7) at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Ramblers lost 3-0 to Wichita State on Saturday.
