Series History
This is the first-ever meeting between the Bears and North Dakota State, a Division I member of the Summit League.
Scouting North Dakota State
Coach David Richman's Bison have four starters and eight lettermen returning from a 20-13 club that was 8-8 (5th) in The Summit League a year ago. NDSU is off to a 5-1 start this season with a 26-point win at High Point in its only true road game of the season.
Leading the way for the Bison is Paul Miller (G, 6-6, Jr.) who is averaging a team-high 15.3 points and 4.0 rebounds while converting 80 percent at the line. A.J. Jacobson (G/F, 6-6, Jr.) is averaging 12.4 points and a team-high 5.0 rebounds, with 13 3-pointers and seven blocks.
The Ten Count
- Missouri State's bench has outscored its opponents' reserves by a 144-59 margin this season (36.0 to 14.8 ppg).
- Dequon Miller (Sr., Charleston, W.Va.) and Obediah Church (So., Springfield, Ill.) have started 36 consecutive games for the Bears. Miller has scored in double figures 26 times in that span, while Church has 63 blocked shots.
- This decade (2009-10 to present), North Dakota State (11.08) and Missouri State (11.14) rank 11th and 12th, respectively, among all Division I teams in fewest turnovers per game. This season, the Bears have committed just 9.5 mishaps per night, which ranks No. 7 nationally and 1st in the MVC.
- Ronnie Rousseau III (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio) ranks 9th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (8.5) with 17 assists and just 2 turnovers this season. He is also MSU's top scorer, averaging 13.0 points with double figures in 3 of 4 games.
- Chris Kendrix (Jr., Willard, Mo.) has been MSU's top scorer the past two games and needs 2 points for 300 career points at JQH Arena (31g). He would be 14th Bear to reach that milestone and first since Camyn Boone (313).
- MSU has shot 45.5 percent or better from the field in every game this season -- a milestone the team reached just nine times last season (2015-16) and just seven times in 2014-15.
- Ryan Kreklow (So., Columbia, Mo.) has hit multiple treys in three of four starts this season and has at least one steal in every game this campaign and eight straight games overall.
- As of Friday, MSU's 11.5 three-pointers per game ranks 4th nationally. MSU also ranks in the top 10 nationally in turnover margin (3rd), turnovers per game (7th), 3-point defense (7th), scoring defense (9th) and scoring margin (9th).
- MSU head coach Paul Lusk is gunning for his 75th win as Bears' head coach. He is 74-91 in his sixth season.
- Austin Ruder (Jr., Nixa, Mo.) is just 5 threes from 150 for his career. He is the MVC's active leader in 3-pointers.
