SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State posted season highs of 11 aces and 97 digs Saturday evening on the way to a 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19) victory over visiting Illinois State in the home finale at Hammons Student Center.
The Bears (23-7, 14-2 Missouri Valley Conference) picked up their 14th consecutive win and remained one match ahead of 13-3 Wichita State in the league standings, while the Redbirds fell to 16-12 overall and 9-7 in Valley matches.
Seniors 
Tatum Marshall and 
Simone House each starred in their final home match, with Marshall scooping a season-high 18 digs and House hitting .304 with eight kills, four blocks and a career-high six digs.
Freshman 
Daniele Messa served six aces, the most for a Bear since Melissa Gmur in 2009, while the team's 11 points at the service line were the most since recording 13 against Indiana State in September 2014.
Missouri State scooped 31 digs in the first set but hit just .041 as the Redbirds pulled away with from a 13-12 score with a 4-0 run. The Bears jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set and led by at least four points for the remainder of the period, hitting .312 with 17 kills to even the match.
Messa served four aces in the third set, including two in an early 5-0 run and two more in a 9-0 spurt that resulted in a 20-11 lead for the home team. The Bears took the lead for good in the fourth set on a Marshall ace for 8-7, went up 13-8 on a 
Lily Johnson kill, and led by at least two points for the rest of the 25-19 win.
Johnson finished with a match-high 18 kills to go with 17 digs, and Wright and 
Lauren Boone had nine kills each. 
Emily Butters scooped 25 digs, while Messa (11) and 
Brianne Dixon (10) made it five Bears in double figures.
The Bears hit .222 compared to .188 for the Redbirds and owned a 53-47 lead in kills and 97-87 advantage in total digs.
Missouri State closes the regular season with visits to Evansville (Nov. 18, 7 p.m.) and Southern Illinois (Nov. 19, 7 p.m.) before heading to the MVC Tournament, Nov. 24-26 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
