St. LOUIS -- For the second time this season, Missouri State setter
Daniele Messa has been selected the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week in volleyball, the league office announced Monday. Messa's award is also the sixth weekly Valley honor collected by the volleyball Bears this season.
Messa directed the Bears to a .315 team hitting efficiency while averaging 11.17 assists, 0.83 blocks, 2.67 digs and 0.67 kills per set in a pair of 3-0 wins.Â
Friday, the Bartlett, Ill., native recorded a double-double with 32 assists and 11 digs against Bradley, adding three blocks and two kills. Saturday versus Loyola, Messa dished out 35 assists as the Bears hit a season-high .396. She also contributed two kills, two blocks and five digs against the Ramblers.
The Bears (13-7, 4-2 MVC) hosts Evansville (4-16, 0-7) at 7 p.m. tonight at Hammons Student Center.
