MVC Release
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Missouri State senior Cassie Le earned Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Tuesday (Sept. 15). Le adds this weekly honor to a plethora of career academic laurels.
Le has become one of the most versatile players on the Bears squad, showing her defensive and offensive skills this past week. She started all three matches on the week and played both in the midfield and on the back line.
In Wednesday's match versus ORU, she played 90 minutes in the draw transitioning seamlessly from midfield to wing back. Again on Friday, she played all 90 minutes with time on defense and at midfield in the road win.
Then on Sunday, she played 77 minutes in the win at Little Rock, tallying the game-winning goal, the first of her career.
Missouri State's women's soccer team (4-2-1) returns to the pitch on Friday with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at SIU Edwardsville (2-4-2). It begins another stretch of three matches over five days for the Bears. MSU will host Western Illinois on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with a free youth clinic following the match.
