SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Missouri State Bears officially opened their first preseason football camp under first-year head coach Dave Steckel Sunday, with 94 players reporting to campus in preparation for the first day of practice on Monday.

The Bears were issued equipment and gathered for their first full team meetings of the 2015 campaign during their first scheduled day of activities.

Monday's opening practice gets underway at 3:15 p.m. at Robert W. Plaster Stadium, with single-session work outs scheduled to follow each day, Tuesday (Aug. 4) through Monday (Aug. 10) leading up to the team's first preseason scrimmage on Aug. 11. All preseason practices are closed to the public.

MSU opens the 2015 season on Sept. 5 with a 6 p.m. road game against Memphis at the Liberty Bowl. The Bears return to Springfield the following Saturday (Sept. 12) to lift the lid on their five-game home slate against Chadron State at 2 p.m.
