MSU Adds to Athletics Staff for 2015-16

SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State University Director of Athletics Kyle Moats has announced the addition of four staff members for the upcoming academic year, including new director of compliance Shamika Kentish, director of marketing Megan Hofferth, assistant BearsFund director Matt McDonough and men's equipment manager Kaleb Daws.

Shamika Kentish

Kentish started as director of compliance on Aug. 17 and comes to Missouri State from Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C., where she was director of compliance the last two years. In that capacity, she helped monitor initial and continuing eligibility and recruiting practices for 16 NCAA sports and was the Athletics liaison for admissions, financial aid and the registrar.

Prior to her time at Chowan, she served as a volunteer at Norfolk State University, working with the Compliance Assistant software and book scholarship program. She spent three years as the assistant athletic director for Norfolk (Va.) Christian schools where she supervised coaching staff, worked in compliance and produced marketing initiatives.

She was also a compliance intern at Seton Hall University where she competed in track and field four years earned her degree in sports management in 2010. The four-time Big East Academic All-Star went on to receive her MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2012.

Kentish is originally from Virginia Beach, Va. She is a member of a number of community and service organizations and replaces Kyle Yates who accepted a position at Baylor University earlier this summer after seven years at MSU.

Megan Hofferth

Hofferth joined the staff of Missouri State Sports properties on July 6, 2015 as the new director of marketing for the Athletics department.

She is a 2015 graduate of the University of South Carolina where she earned a degree in sport and entertainment management. She was a perennial dean's list honoree and earned induction into the Golden Key National Honor Society in 2013.

Her experience in athletics also includes time as administrative assistant at South Carolina where she managed travel, game contracts and schedules for the associate director of athletics. She was also a manager for the Gamecocks' sand volleyball team her senior year and was an intern for the South Carolina equestrian squad the same year.

Hofferth spent two years as a marketing intern for the Nelligan Sports Marketing, assisting with group sales, events, box office and finance initiatives.

Matt McDonough

McDonough joined the Missouri State staff on August 1 where he assists Senior Director of Athletics Development Kevin Greim with all aspects of the MSU Bears Fund.

He is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he earned his undergraduate degree in education. He is also finishing up his graduate degree is sports management at KU. He served as Marketing Assistant at KU for two years, assisting with marketing and promotional plans for all Kansas athletic events while working with revenue, donors and special events. He also helped coordinate sponsorship elements through IMG College and was responsible for game-day experiences and promotional materials.

Originally from Wichita, Kan., McDonough has previous experience in Springfield, serving as a junior associate for the Springfield Cardinals in 2013 where he worked with group sales, promotions and game-day events and activities.

He replaces Austin Schilling who accepted a position at Kansas State University this spring after serving two years at Missouri State.

Kaleb Daws

Daws will officially join the Missouri State staff on Aug. 24, working as the primary equipment liaison for men's athletics.

He is a 2014 graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he earned his degree in cognitive psychology. During his time in Norman, he spent four years as a student equipment manager and assisted with the organization and operation for all practices and scrimmages and prepared equipment for home and away games.

He also served as an equipment intern with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL in 2014 and helped maintain inventory of all apparel and equipment while assisting with the game-day and practice equipment needs.

He is a native of Roland, Okla., and is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA). He is also certified in CPR/First Aid and has full AED certification.

The hire of all MSU staff is contingent upon final approval by the Missouri State Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting.
