SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State junior Tyler McCullough is expected to miss the next 4-6 months on the court while recovering from successful surgery Wednesday (July 15) to repair a torn ligament in his right shoulder.
McCullough, who played in 30 games with 12 starts as a sophomore in 2014-15, has already begun a rehabilitation regimen. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 3.7 points. 2.7 rebounds and 13.9 minutes per game last year after starting 20 times his freshman season.
MSU head coach Paul Lusk says McCullough's status for the 2015-16 season remains uncertain.
"The biggest thing is to get Tyler back to 100 percent and then we can start working back into basketball drills and see what his outlook is for the season," Lusk said. "As with all these situations, time will provide a clearer picture of his situation."
McCullough is one of eight returning players for the Bears who have all five starters back for Lusk's fifth year in Springfield. The Bears have also added three transfer players and three incoming freshman for the upcoming campaign.
