CHANDLER, Ariz. - Fourteen Missouri State student-athletes were named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Monday, March 23.
MSU juniors Patrice Ahl (St. Albert, Alberta), Kimberleigh Eng (Woodbridge, Va.), Jackie Eskue (Fallbrook, Calif.), Cami Mullins (Worthington, Ohio), Jessi Pope (Stafford, Va.), Charlie Redhead (Norfolk, England) and Holly Scherer (Belmont, Ontario) make up the Bears' group of three-year selections to the National Academic Squad.
Earning their second selections to the Academic list are juniors Dominique Leyva (San Diego, Calif.), Sydney Richelieu (Fallbrook, Calif.), redshirt sophomore Brynne Satre (Davis, Calif.) and sophomore Megan Drew (San Diego, Calif.).
Freshmen Daelynn DeMello (Monument, Colo.), Paige Pashea (Edwardsville, Ill.) and Andrea Soler Codina (Terrassa, Spain) represent the MSU first-year class on the list.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.
The Bears were named a 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team two weeks ago for maintaining a 3.0 GPA during the fall semester, while three student-athletes - Jessi Pope, Holly Scherer and Kimberleigh Eng - were named Scholars of Distinction by the organization last week.
