Softball's Rally for Allie Tournament Cancelled This Weekend

Feb. 24, 2015

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A snow covered field and a weather forecast that is not conducive to improving the surface to a playable condition have forced the cancellation of the Rally for Allie Leukemia Awareness Tournament that was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Killian Stadium. Weather has caused the annual tournament among Division I schools in Missouri to be altered or cancelled in each of the last three seasons.

"We are sad to have to cancel this weekend's tournament," said head coach Holly Hesse. "The support shown for Allie from this campus, community and many others across the country has been tremendous. We are looking forward to celebrating the progress Allie has made in her journey, but now we will have to do it later in the season."

Missouri State will declare the March 14 and 15 weekend home games against Drake to open MVC play the Rally for Allie Weekend. MSU and Drake will play a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday and a single game at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday that weekend.

The Bears have rescheduled a doubleheader versus UMKC at Killian Stadium for Wednesday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. Efforts to reschedule games against SEMO and Saint Louis are ongoing.

Missouri State (8-7) will return to action on Saturday, March 7, at the Courtyard Marriott Tournament in Norman, Okla. The Bears will face both Samford and host Oklahoma on Saturday and Sunday of that weekend. MSU's next scheduled home game will be Tuesday, March 10 at 5:00 p.m. versus Central Arkansas.
