About Kansas State
The Kansas State Wildcats were ranked No. 66 in the most recent ITA poll on Jan. 28, but have lost five straight matches following a season-opening win at home over Northern Iowa and a victory in their road debut against UC Irvine. KSU is led by Amina St. Hill who is 11-4 this season, including a 5-0 mark in dual play.
The Wildcats and Bears meet for the 14th time in women's tennis, with KSU owning a 2-11 record over MSU. The last time the two squads met, the Wildcats earned a 7-0 win on Feb. 26, 2005.
About Arkansas State
The Arkansas State Red Wolves are currently 1-4 overall following a 6-1 loss to Central Arkansas on Monday. This will be the second time the Bears and Red Wolves meet this season, after MSU traveled to Jonesboro to compete in the Red Wolf Invitational in the fall of 2014. ASU is led by Victoria Pisani who is 3-2 in duals and is the only Red Wolf with a winning record overall and in conference play.
Friday's dual will be the 20th meeting between the Red Wolves and Bears, with ASU holding a 9-10 record in the all-time series.
Earning it the Hard Way
The Bears competed in a third set for the first time this season in Sunday's matchup against IUPUI. In both No. 3 and No. 4 singles, MSU's Ekaterina Donetskova and Miranda Poile dropped the first set in their respective matches. However, both made comebacks for victories. Donetskova finished out 7-5, 7-5 and Poile won 6-1, 7-5 to help propel the Bears past the Cougars. Poile's win improved her overall singles record to a team-best 2-1 this spring.
How the Matches Will be Scored
No-ad scoring will be used in both singles and doubles and three doubles matches will be played to begin the dual. Each match is one set to six, with a tie-break at six-all. The first team to earn two doubles wins earns one team point. Doubles play will be followed by six singles matches (best two of three sets -- tie-breaks at six-all). Each singles match is worth one team point.
