Beshore Selected for MVFC All-Newcomer Squad

Dec. 1, 2015

MVFC All-Newcomer Team

ST. LOUIS - Missouri State freshman defensive back Jared Beshore has been named to the 2015 Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team, chosen by the league's coaches, sports information directors and a select media panel.

Beshore wasted little time in leaving his mark on the MSU defense as a rookie, averaging 6.4 tackles per game to rank among the top 20 defenders in the MVFC. He made 10 starts as the Bears free safety as a freshman, logging 70 total tackles to finish as MSU's third-leading tackler after averaging 6.8 stops in league play. The Lamar, Mo., product broke up a pair of passes and recorded 1.5 tackles for losses, while tallying 43 solo stops - second only to first-team All-MVFC choice Dylan Cole's 73 solo tackles on the club. Beshore brought down a career-best 14 ball-carriers against UNI (Nov. 14) - nine of which were solo tackles.

Beshore's selection continues a long line of MSU newcomers to earn all-conference recognition from the Valley. Since the league began recognizing an All-Newcomer Team in 1994, only Western Illinois (80) and Illinois State (77) have had more selections than Missouri State, which has had 75 all-time honorees. Current Bears Cole (2013), as well as 2014 honorees Cecil Bratton, Calan Crowder, Sam Ellifrits and Eric Phillips were also selected for the MVFC's All-Newcomer squad.
