CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced its postseason award winners for the 2015 field hockey season on Thursday, Nov. 5, with Missouri State junior Liz Young earning first-team all-conference honors and seniors Patrice Ahl and Charlie Redhead recognized as second-team selections.

Young, a captain on the Bears' squad, started in all 17 games for Missouri State. Young was granted a medical hardship in 2014 after getting injured in the sixth game of the season. She bounced back this year by earning the third highest amount of minutes on the pitch for the Bears, averaging over 57 minutes of playing time per contest during the regular season.

The San Diego native tied for third on the team with 22 shots, while scoring her lone goal of the season in a 5-4 overtime victory over Saint Louis on Sept. 17. Young was previously an all-MAC honorable mention selection in 2013.

Ahl was named an all-conference selection for the first time in her career after capturing several career highs this year.

The St. Albert, Alberta, native had a team-leading four assists this season - which was a career high - along with four points. Ahl started in each game on the backline for the Bears during the 2015 regular season. Two-thirds of her points during her career came this season, with Ahl notching a personal-best two assists in an Aug. 30 matchup versus Appalachian State.

Redhead, a three-year captain for MSU, was recognized with her third consecutive selection to the All-MAC Second Team. Redhead recorded second-highest marks on the team in goals (3) and shots (32) for the Bears during the regular season. The Norfolk, England, native scored two-game winners, including the lone goal in the Bears' 1-0 victory over co-MAC regular season champion Kent State on Oct. 11.

The Bears open the 2015 Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship with a semifinals matchup versus Miami at 1 p.m. CST Friday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
