Bears Seventh After 18 Holes at Little Rock Classic

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. - The Missouri State women's golf team is tied for seventh after 18 holes at the Little Rock Classic in Hot Springs Village, Ark. The Bears shot 304 in Sunday's (Nov. 1) first round and are nine shots off the pace with 18 holes to play each of the next two days.

Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas share the first-round lead after shooting 295. Oral Roberts is third with 297, while Little Rock and Wichita State are fourth at 301. Arkansas State posted 302, then MSU is tied with Eastern Michigan and Sam Houston State.

UTEP carded 309 for 10th, followed by UMKC (310), Stephen F. Austin (313), South Alabama and Western Michigan (314), and Louisiana Monroe (321).

Individually, the Bears were led by sophomore Verena Gimmy and senior Megan Furnish, who shot 74 and 75, respectively, and are 12th and 19th. Sophomore Stine Pettersen carded 77, while junior Caroline Boone had 78 and freshman Ashley Childers 79.

Monday's second round is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
