St. LOUIS -- Missouri State's Lily Johnson earned her second Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week award of the season and fifth weekly league award overall Monday afternoon. The sophomore outside hitter has also been the MVC's Defensive Player of the Week once and Scholar-Athlete of the Week twice in 2015.
Johnson averaged 4.38 kills and 5.06 points per set for the Bears last week, piling up 35 total kills, 16 digs, four blocks and three aces in two matches.
Friday, Johnson landed a match-high 25 kills at Indiana State, hitting .312 against the Sycamores in her 17th career 20-kill match. Saturday, the Wildwood, Mo., native extended her double-figure streak to 36 matches with an even 10 kills, adding seven digs and an ace at Illinois State.
The Bears (15-8, 6-4 MVC) host league-leading Wichita State (18-6, 9-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hammons Student Center. MSU handed the Shockers their only league loss on Oct. 2 in Wichita.
