Missouri State's Stine Pettersen has been named Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the third consecutive time after winning the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday (Oct. 13).
Pettersen, a sophomore from Moss, Norway, shot 73-73-77--223 over 54 holes at Twin Oaks Country Club to edge teammate Verena Gimmy by a shot for medalist honors and give her four top-10 finishes in four tournaments this season. The Bears shot 293 in the final round to post an 11-stroke victory in the tournament.
The Valley leader with a 73.33 scoring average, Pettersen shared the same honor a week ago with Gimmy after both tied for sixth at Nebraska, and the previous week after firing a school-record 65 in the second round and finishing sixth at Missouri. Pettersen has won the award five times in her short career and shares the honor this week with Paige Van Dyk of Northern Iowa, who also won her event.
MSU is off the next two weeks before the fall finale at the Little Rock Classic in Hot Springs, Ark., Nov. 1-3.
