MVFC Players of the Week

ST. LOUIS - After turning in his second record-setting performance in as many weeks Saturday, Missouri State sophomore Deion Holliman has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his effort against Southern Illinois.

Against the Salukis, Holliman broke his own Missouri State single-game record for combined kick return yardage, totaling 274 yards Saturday, just one week after establishing a Bears' Division I mark with 182 kickoff-punt return yards vs. Indiana State. The Camden, Ark., product recorded four kickoff returns of 27 yards or more against SIU - including a 57-yarder - to finish with 238 yards on nine total returns. He also brought back his lone punt return for 36 yards to set up a second-quarter Missouri State touchdown.

Holliman leads all NCAA Division I FCS players in combined return yardage (640) this season and ranks third nationally in punt return average (22.4 yards per return) through five games.

Missouri State (1-4, 0-2 MVFC) returns to action Saturday (Oct. 17) at 2 p.m. to take on nationally-ranked Illinois State for its 2015 Homecoming match-up at Robert W. Plaster Stadium. Single-game tickets are available online at MissouriStateBears.com/Tickets, by calling (417) 836-7678, or visiting the JQH Arena ticket office during normal box office hours.
