DES MOINES, Iowa - The tandem of Rebecca McIsaac and Ema Turudija won their doubles quarterfinals match and Mackenzie Rozell won her first singles match to highlight the Missouri State tennis team's performance on the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship on Friday, Oct. 3, at the Waveland Tennis Courts.

In their opening match of the day, the Bears' No. 3 doubles pairing of freshman Rebecca McIsaac and junior Ema Turudija went to a tiebreaker against Illinois State's Cricket Geldermann and Natalai Parchowska, and outdueled the Redbirds in the tiebreak 7-2 for an 8-7 victory.

The two will face Summer Schlotterback and Abby Stevens of Wichita State in the semifinals on Saturday.

Following doubles play, singles play began and MSU's No. 2 Mackenzie Rozell won her quarterfinal match 6-3, 6-2, over Illinois State's Donna Haycock.

Rozell is set to face Drake's Summer Brills in the semifinals tomorrow.

In No. 4 singles, MSU sophomore Ekaterina Donetskova barely fell in her quarterfinal match, dropping her match to Evansville's Marina Moreno 6-4, 7-5.

The Bears continue play at the MVC Individual Championship with singles semifinal action and doubles consolation rounds at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in Des Moines, Iowa.
