The Missouri State field hockey team has three home games left and is set to take on Central Michigan and La Salle for two home games this weekend. The Bears begin Homecoming at Betty and Bobby Allison North Stadium when Central Michigan visits for a 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, Mid-American Conference showdown. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, MSU and La Salle will meet for the first time in nine years as the Explorers make the trip to Springfield for a nonconference game at Betty and Bobby Allison North Stadium.
Weekend Review
Lexi Kavanaugh led Ball State by recording a hat trick, with two of her goals coming in the second half. Five different Cardinals recorded assists and goalkeeper Shelby Henley made six saves to complete a shutout. Ball State finished the contest with a 10-9 advantage in shots, but MSU held an 8-4 edge in penalty corner opportunities.
About Central Michigan University
The Central Michigan Chippewas head into Friday's game in first place in the MAC standings with a 3-0 record and sit at 4-9 overall this season. Kaysie Greggory and Cayleigh Immelman have posted double digits in points this season to lead the Chippewas on the attack. In goal for Central Michigan, Sadie Reynolds has started each game for the Chippewas and has posted a .717 save percentage, while giving up a 4.38 goals-against average. Watch Live

The Explorers will play a conference game on Friday at Saint Louis before heading to Springfield for Sunday's game. La Salle heads into the weekend at 6-6 overall with a 3-2 conference record. The Explorers are led by Kendall Kreider who has a team-high nine points. Goalkeeper Rachel Hartman solidifies the defense for La Salle, currently registering a solid .825 save percentage and 1.61 goals-against average on the year.
Bears Comfortable at Allison North
The Missouri State Bears have picked up all of their victories this season at the newly constructed Betty and Bobby Allison North Stadium. The Bears are 3-1 at the friendly confines of Allison North, with the only loss coming to MAC-foe Kent State on Oct. 3. In the four home dates this season, MSU has averaged 198 spectators per game. Allison North's largest crowd thus far was the Sept. 7 Stadium Dedication game against the Saint Louis Billikens. A recorded 367 fans watched the Bears defeat the Billikens for their second win of the season.
Young Earns MAC POTW Honors
Junior captain Liz Young was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performances against UC Davis and Saint Louis, as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Young earned her first weekly award of her career by making two defensive saves against UC Davis in a 5-4 overtime victory on Sept. 4. She also registered an assist on Charlie Redhead's second goal of the season on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Scherer MSU Student Athlete of Week
Junior Holly Scherer scored a hat trick against UC Davis on Sept. 7, and was named MSU Student Athlete of the Week for her effort. Scherer's third goal of the game in the 80th minute was the game winner in a 5-4 overtime victory against the Aggies.
Bears 7th in Preseason Poll
The Missouri State field hockey team was picked to finish seventh in the Mid-American Conference, according to a poll of the conference's head coaches released Monday, Aug. 25.
The Bears return 12 players from last season, with 312 combined games played between them during their careers.
A Junior-Laden Bears Squad
The Missouri State field hockey team may not have a senior on its roster, but it has plenty of familiar faces. Eleven juniors make up the Bears lineup this year, with ten of those players having game experience for MSU. In all, 12 players return this season having played for the Bears in 2013.
All-MAC Honoree Back in 2014
Junior Charlie Redhead heads into 2014 following a 2013 season that earned her all-MAC second team honors. The midfielder earned her first all-conference accolades for MSU, in part by picking up career-highs in multiple statistical categories. She finished last season third on the team in points and tied for first in assists. Bears to Play at New Home in 2014
Seven home games highlight Missouri State's schedule in 2014, with the opening of the Betty and Bobby Allison North Stadium. Seating 250, the new stadium will serve as the home for the Bears field hockey program and the lacrosse teams.
