BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Missouri State field hockey team posted a strong defensive effort at Indiana on Friday (Sept. 13), but came up short by a 3-0 score.

Indiana (3-2) took a one-goal lead in the 17th minute when Audra Heilman scored on a shot just left of center. That goal was Heilman's fourth of the year, and proved to be the game-winner for the Hoosiers.

The Bears (1-4) held the deficit at one goal until Indiana scored a pair in the latter part of the second half. Danielle McNally and Mariella Grote rattled off goals in the 55th and 65th minutes, respectively.

Bears goalkeeper Andrea Bain (Sr., Victoria, British Columbia) made six stops in seven attempts in one of her strongest performances of the year. Hillary Lawless, Holly Scherer and Ciara Saunders notched shots for the visitors.

Indiana out-shot the Bears 24-to-3 and recorded 10 shots on goal to Missouri State's two. The Hoosiers also racked up 14 penalty corners compared to two for the Bears.

Missouri State returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 14) with a 2 p.m. (Central) match against Robert Morris in Bloomington.
