NABC Honors Court List | Scheer Bio
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Missouri State men's basketball veteran Nathan Scheer (Sr., G/F, Washington, Mo.) is part of the 2012-13 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, the organization announced this week.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents of the 700-plus collegiate basketball student-athletes from 287 colleges and universities who excelled in academics during the past season. In order to be named to the Honors Court, an athlete must be a junior or senior, possess a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year, have matriculated at least one year at their current institution, and played at a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA member institution.
Scheer, a Construction Management major with a 3.78 grade-point average, was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete first team as well as the MVC All-Bench Team in 2013. He provided 22.5 minutes per game during his junior season for the Bears and knocked down 37 3-pointers. He was named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Jan. 3 and finished seventh in the conference by making 42.9 percent of his 3-point shots in league play. Scheer earned MVC second-team academic honors as a sophomore.
Including Scheer, Coach Paul Lusk's Bears will return eight lettermen and four starters this winter. MSU will also welcome five newcomers this season, including three freshmen and a pair of transfers.
