The Missouri State softball team (15-20, 6-5) jumps right back into game action when the Central Arkansas Bears (24-14) come to Killian Stadium for a 5:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday. MSU leads the all-time series over UCA, 5-2.
Tuesday's single home game is a brief interruption in a span of six out of seven games against NCAA Tournament participants from 2012. Following the game, Missouri State will return to the road, kicking off a six-game swing at Arkansas on Wednesday.
MSU continues to lead the Valley in hitting with a .294 team batting average. The Bears boast a roster with seven hitters at or above .300 on the year. MSU has tallied 165 runs, more than last season and on pace for one of the highest outputs in program history. The Bears have smashed 22 home runs on the year, seventh-most in school history.
Junior second baseman Ashley Brentz legged out an infield single on Sunday, pushing her hitting streak to five games. With the base hit, Brentz has now hit safely in 15 of the last 17 games for MSU.
Heather Duckworth had a phenomenal Saturday, hitting her third home run of the season. In game two, she became the second Bear this season with four runs batted in. For the doubleheader, she reached base safely in six of eight plate appearances.
