Academic All-District Teams
SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State volleyball player Kaitlin Jaeger has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District VI First Team, it was announced Thursday. As a first-team selection, Jaeger automatically advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
A 6-foot junior from Webb City, Mo., Jaeger carries a 3.79 cumulative grade point average while pursuing a political science degree.
The middle blocker has played in 21 matches with 18 starts for the Bears (17-9, 8-5 Missouri Valley Conference) this season, averaging 2.08 kills and 0.60 blocks per set. Her .288 hitting percentage ranks ninth in the MVC, and she has led MSU in kills four times this season with five double-figure matches.
A preseason all-conference selection this year after making the second team in 2012, Jaeger was the MVC Player of the Week on Sept. 3 and an honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete last season.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
