Field Hockey Bears Look Ahead to Weekend Contests

The Missouri State field hockey team (3-6 overall, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) will open its home schedule on Saturday with a noon matchup against MAC foe Miami (Ohio) (5-6 overall, 1-0 MAC) at Plaster Sports Complex. The Bears will also play non-conference opponent Liberty in St. Louis on Sunday. Last weekend, the Bears defeated MAC opponent Ball State by a score of 4-2 before losing to Ohio State 10-1.

The Last Time

The Bears beat the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks 2-0 in Springfield on Oct. 29, 2011. Sarah Bradley and Hillary Lawless scored goals, and Andrea Bain saved six shots to preserve the shutout.

Game Notes

? Missouri State is 9-22 all-time against Miami (Ohio). The Bears' game against Liberty will be the first-ever contest between the schools.

? Junior forward Hillary Lawless is making an early push to earn all-conference accolades. The native of St. Louis, Mo. is fourth in the MAC in points per game (1.22) and tied for third in goals per game (0.56).

? Reiann Stoute, a senior defender from Bridgetown, Barbados, is tied for first in the country in defensive saves (5).

? Senior midfielder Chelsey Medlock has already set a career high in assists with three.
