Volleyball Rebounds With 3-0 Win at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa-- The Missouri State volleyball team responded to Friday's loss with a 25-16, 25-23, 25-15 victory at Drake Saturday for its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season. The Bears moved to 6-7 overall and 1-1 in the league with the win, while the Bulldogs remain winless at 0-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Bears faced their stiffest challenge of the night in the second set, trailing most of the way and by as many as five points at 13-8. Missouri State did not take a lead until 24-23, coming back from a 23-21 deficit to close on a 4-0 run that included three Andrea Beaty kills and another from Amber Doolittle.

Official stats were not available from the host institution Saturday, though unofficial stats tabulated by the Missouri State bench included Doolittle scoring 12 kills on .550 hitting and Beaty finishing with 11. Carly Thomas had 40 assists and Ashley Mason had 21 digs and two aces. Shelby Strang added 10 digs and two aces, as the Bears finished with five points from the service line and a .257 team hitting efficiency.

The Bears return home Sept. 21 for a 7 p.m. contest against Southern Illinois (11-1, 2-0).
