The Missouri State field hockey squad has finalized their 2012 roster. Bears' head coach Gabby Gomez Sosa and assistant coach Erika Dombkowski announced the addition of Patrice Ahl to the 2012 field hockey team Friday (April 27) morning.
Patrice Ahl, St. Albert, Midfield/Forward - Alberta, Canada, Bellerose High
Ahl has played on the Alberta provincial field hockey squad for the past three years and has competed at the Senior National Tournament in field hockey, winning the bronze medal. In 2011, Ahl's team finished second at the Western Canada Games and fourth at the Senior Nationals. She was a junior national camp selection in 2011, as well. Ahl is a multi-sport athlete, playing girls ice hockey for three years, as she led the Midget St. Albert Dash and Sting team in goals and assists. She also speed skated for the Edmonton Speed Skating Club and played women's box lacrosse for the St. Albert Rams. Ahl has also played volleyball, badminton, and soccer, earning the Coaches' Award in soccer.
"There is no doubt Patrice is a gifted athlete being involved in so many different sports", said Bears' assistant coach Dombkowski, "She has quick, smooth ball control and is patient and smart when defending an opponent. We were really impressed with her accuracy regarding her passes and hits and her strength in the D. She has a talent for trapping on corners and she will compete for a spot on the corner team. We're excited about Patrice. She is a great addition to our 2012 team."
