The Missouri State women's golf team opened its 2012 spring season Sunday (Feb. 19) with a 314-328 dual-meet victory at SMU in Dallas, Texas.

Senior Kelsey Welber grabbed medalist honors with a four-over-par 76 on the water-logged Gold Course at the Dallas Athletic Club. Teammate Hermine Greyling carded 78 to give the Bears a 1-2 finish.

Senior Catherine Dolan and freshman Megan Thompson each shot 80 and were part of a four-way tie for third that also included SMU's Felicia Espericueta and Elizabeth Wells. Junior Emma Clegg shot 84 for MSU, while teammates Chiara Citterio and Emily Potts posted 90 and 91, respectively, while competing as individuals.

The Bears resume their season at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz., Mar. 9-11.
