Five Missouri State Standouts Honored by Preseason Football Publication

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Five Missouri State University football players have been honored as members of Phil Steele's 2011 All-Missouri Valley Football Conference squad.

Earning first team honors were wide receiver Jermaine Saffold and punter Jordan Chiles. Picking up second team honors were runninb back Chris Douglas, linebacker Nick Canavan and cornerback Jimmie Strong.

Earlier this summer, Douglas was recognized as a Preseason All-American by Consensus Draft Services. Douglas, Strong, Chiles and Saffold were also named to the College Football Performance Awards Preseason Watch Lists for their respective positions.

Missouri State opens the 2011 season at Arkansas on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.
