Kelsey Welber of Missouri State has been named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after finishing second Tuesday (Mar. 15) at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nev. The junior from Plano, Texas, fired a school-record 215 for 54 holes, carding 70-68-77 to finish second by two shots. Her second-round 68 also tied the MSU record for 18 holes.
Welber's honor was the third in her last four outings dating back to the fall season, having previously won last October after the Memphis Invitational and last month after the Texas State/Claud Jacobs Challenge. It also marked the second week in a row a Missouri State player has won the award after teammate Catherine Dolan claimed the honor after winning the Rio Verde Invitational, Mar. 4-6.
Welber currently sports a 76.74 scoring average and is ranked third in the conference according to Golfstat.
