Menke Named Valley Football Offensive Lineman of the Week

Nov. 21, 2011

ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State center Harrison Menke (Jr., Joplin, Mo.) has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced Monday (Nov. 21).

Menke played a key role in the Bears' thrilling 38-34 comeback win at Youngstown State on Saturday and capped his first season as a Missouri State starter with a sensational effort. He played every offensive snap in the YSU game, grading out 85 percent for the game. Was also pivotal part of MSU offensive attack that generated a season-high 38 points, 389 yards of total offense and 20 first downs. The Bears also finished with 201 rushing yards, their second-highest game of the season thanks to the work of Menke and his teammates on the offensive line.

The Joplin tornado surivor started all 11 games this season for MSU and played all 683 offensive plays.

He joins quarterback Trevor Wooden (So., High Springs, Fla.), the MVFC Offensive Player of the Week, on this week's list of conference honorees, along with Northern Iowa's L.J. Fort (Defensive Player of the Week), Tyler Sievertsen of UNI (Special Teams Player of the Week) and Jewel Hampton of Southern Illinois (Newcomer of the Week).
