SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State football Bears have completed 14 spring practices and now turn their attention to Saturday's spring finale in their annual Maroon and White scrimmage at 1 p.m.
Head coach Terry Allen, who will begin his fifth season with the Bears, says this spring has provided an ideal work environment for his troops to get ready for the fall.
"It's been a really good spring. The weather has been cooperative, and we have been able to get in some quality work," Allen said. "The defense has been able to expand their package, and the offense has gotten some quality reps, particularly for our young receivers."
Admission for Saturday's scrimmage is free. Ticket information for the 2010 season will also be available on site as well as BearWear gear, concessions and other festivities.
Allen said the format for Saturday's 90-minute scrimmage is still being decided, but the event should provide for an entertaining afternoon for fans.
"We want people to come out, and I think they'll like what they see," Allen said. "We have an exciting brand of football, and we want the community to get involved and be part of the excitement."

The 2010 season will feature five home games in all as the Bears return 68 squad members, 44 lettermen and 17 starters in hopes of improving on the team's 6-5 campaign and fifth-place showing in the Missouri Valley Football Conference a year ago.
